Precautions for the use of nitrocellulose

1. Experiments have shown that plastics aged with nitric acid (immunized with nitric acid) can extremely severely impede the nitrification reaction, so avoid contact with plastic during the reaction.

2. Nitric acid can corrode rubber and avoid contact with rubber products.

3. Vaseline and graphite can also play a role in stability, but since the method of uniform addition is unclear, it is not considered.

4. Since the cotton will maintain its original shape after nitrification (the strength of the paper will decrease significantly), the uneven distribution caused by the influence of gravity should be taken into account when adding potassium nitrate and diphenylamine.

5. Diphenylamine is strictly prohibited from seeing sunlight and will turn blue. Other drying steps should be air dried as much as possible. Do not dry it. If it is stored for a long time, it is strictly prohibited to dry.

6. Potassium nitrate is a flame-retardant and reduces the residue. It can be added without adding it. Diphenylamine is a stabilizer. It has low toxicity. Do not touch the skin for a long time. If it is not stored for a long time, it may not be added.

7. The plastic bottle for preservation can be padded on the stopper to enhance the sealing property.

8. Since the nitrocellulose produced by this method may release a trace amount of acidic substances during storage, it is not recommended to use a metal container for storage, and rust will accelerate the self-decomposition reaction of nitrocellulose.

9. Pay attention to ventilation and acid splashing.

10. In a few cases, the local temperature will be too high in the reaction, causing the acid to boil and release nitrogen dioxide. If it is serious, it will cause the reaction vessel to burst. Note that the reaction vessel should not be placed next to the dangerous goods, preferably placed in the sink. In the middle or on the tile floor, once it is overheated, immediately ventilate and stay away, and then process it after the reaction is over. Try to cool the acid first, then add the nitrification and extend the nitrification time.

11. The reaction waste acid can be extracted by extrusion method to produce nitrocellulose with low nitrification degree. It can be used as a fuse. The washed acid will cause corrosion to the sewer system, especially the metal such as the faucet and the lower pipe under the pool. article.

12. Sodium carbonate concentration, cooking time, reaction time, potassium nitrate concentration are the results of individual experiments, and the amount of diphenylamine added is the standard addition amount of military gunpowder. These data can be optimally adjusted.

13. Do not nitrify ethylene glycol, glycerin, starch, etc., and the reaction cooling conditions are too harsh and explosive.

14. Wood products will be corroded by mixed acid, and the mixed acid will be yellowed, but will not be carbonized too quickly. The effect on the preservation of nitrocellulose is not obvious. Wood chopsticks can also be used when taking nitrocellulose from solution.

15. The effect of oil on the reaction is unclear.

16. Be sure to dry thoroughly. Do not use toilet paper to dry the water. This will not absorb the fine water between the fibers, and the cellulose will not ignite.

17. Nitrocellulose is a flammable and explosive product. It is legally prohibited for individuals to illegally manufacture or hold.
