Solvay Ixef® Polyaramid (PARA) Resin for Surgical Instrument Kits
HC Plastics News: Solvay, the world's leading specialty polymer manufacturer, announces that its high-performance Ixef ® polyaramid (PARA) resin helps ECA Medical Instruments develop disposables for primary and secondary cervical implants The cervical spine uses the surgical instrument kit Cervical-One TM .
The new Cervical-OneTM kit includes a full range of instruments for cervical lamina and internal fixation surgery, robust and ergonomic, including precision torque limiters and their drives. The semi-custom design not only cuts the cost of a single device, but also enables spine implant OEMs to achieve cost-effective instrument kit customization or private label production.
Compared to reusable instruments, ECA's single-use instrumentation system eliminates subsequent processing costs, improves operating room efficiency, simplifies inventory management in hospitals and ASCs, and plays an important role in eliminating the root causes of surgical site infections.

Ixef ® PARA compounds not only provide metal-like strength, stiffness and dimensional stability, but also provide excellent surface finish. Ixef ® PARA is optimized to have no significant change in appearance or performance after being subjected to high-energy gamma ray sterilization and provides a range of gamma-tolerant colors. Solvay compounds have been evaluated to meet ISO 10993 maturity criteria for biocompatibility and are supported by the FDA's MAF.
