Nordson's new plasticizing package increases the productivity of injection molded high glass fiber blends
HC Plastics News: Nordson's Xaloy plasticizing kit includes wear-resistant screws, barrels and valves designed for high throughput and low shear mixing, as well as for reducing fiber breakage.
Abrasion resistance, high throughput and gentle mixing for new plasticizing systems with high levels of glass fiber reinforced polymer, enabling injection molders to meet metal displacement and other high-strength applications while increasing productivity and parts quality.
According to reports, Xaloy high glass fiber filled polymer plasticizing package is designed for various resin injection molding processes with filler contents ranging from 10% to 60%, and will be launched by Nordson at Fakuma2017.

The XaloyPulsarI mixing screw has a wavy root geometry that enhances the quality of the distributed mixing, allowing the local high pressure and low pressure areas to change continuously, resulting in complete melt homogenization under low shear. This minimizes the chance of fiber breakage during gentle mixing and thus maximizes component strength.
The XaloyX-8000 coated screw, a nickel-based alloy with a high tungsten carbide content, has twice the wear resistance and corrosion life of a standard high-speed oxy-fuel (HVOF) coating. Nordson applies the HVOF technique to the surface of the entire screw geometry and then fuses the alloy to the substrate of the screw to form a metallurgical bond.
XaloyX-800 cartridge liner, a lining that combines a nickel-based alloy with tungsten carbide for high wear and corrosion resistance and is compatible with XaloyX-8000 coated screws.
Custom valves are designed to accommodate the viscosity and flow characteristics of highly filled polymers.
